Editorial Standards

How we build, review, and maintain everything on ToolsBank.

ToolsBank publishes free, browser-based tools and the guides that go with them. This page explains how that content gets made, reviewed, and kept accurate over time.

Who writes and maintains this site

ToolsBank is maintained by a small team publishing under the ToolsBank Admin byline. Every guide is written and reviewed in-house before publishing — see our author profile for background.

How our tools are built

Every calculator, converter, and utility on ToolsBank runs entirely in your browser. Formulas and logic are based on standard, publicly documented methods for each category:

  • Calculators (finance, health, date/time, math) use widely accepted formulas — e.g. standard amortization formulas for loan and mortgage calculators, BMI using the WHO-standard formula, and calendar-accurate date arithmetic.
  • Converters use up-to-date unit-conversion constants and, where relevant (like currency), live exchange-rate data refreshed regularly.
  • Generators and utilities (passwords, UUIDs, QR codes, etc.) follow the relevant public standard or spec for that format.

Where a tool's output depends on an assumption (like an estimated reading-speed for a word counter, or a rounding convention), we state that assumption directly on the tool's page.

How our guides are written and reviewed

Each guide is written to accompany a specific tool, explaining what it calculates, the logic behind the result, and common mistakes people make. Guides are:

  • Written by our team with the working tool open, so the explanation matches exactly what the tool does — not a generic description.
  • Updated whenever the underlying tool changes (a new feature, a corrected formula, a new option) so the guide never falls out of sync with the tool.
  • Free of paid placements or sponsored claims — we don't accept payment to recommend a method, formula, or third-party product in a guide.

Corrections

If you spot an error in a tool's calculation, a guide's explanation, or anything else on this site, tell us via our Contact page. We review every report and correct confirmed errors as quickly as we can.

Privacy in our content

Every tool on ToolsBank processes your input locally in your browser. Nothing you type, upload, or calculate is sent to our servers unless a tool explicitly says otherwise (for example, tools that call a live exchange-rate or geocoding API). See our Privacy Policy for full details.
