Ovulation Calculator
A free online ovulation calculator that estimates your fertile window, most likely ovulation day, and next expected period from the first day of your last period, your average cycle length, and luteal phase length. Shows a 4-cycle forecast and common signs of ovulation.
How ovulation is estimated
Ovulation is estimated by counting forward from the first day of your last period by your cycle length, then back by your luteal phase length (the days between ovulation and your next period, typically around 14 days and much more consistent than the first half of the cycle). This is the same standard calendar method used by most ovulation calculators and fertility apps.
The fertile window
The fertile window covers the 5 days before ovulation plus ovulation day itself — sperm can survive in the body for up to 5 days, while the egg is typically viable for about 24 hours after ovulation, so this 6-day window covers essentially all of a cycle's realistic chance of conception.
Why cycle length and luteal phase both matter
Unlike the luteal phase, which stays fairly constant for a given person, the follicular phase (before ovulation) can vary significantly cycle to cycle — which is why a longer or shorter-than-average cycle shifts ovulation earlier or later, while the gap between ovulation and the next period stays roughly the same.
Common Mistakes to Avoid
Assuming ovulation always happens on day 14
Solution:
Treating the fertile window as a guarantee of conception or non-conception
Solution:
Ignoring irregular cycles
Solution:
